MoonPie Mallie's DIY S'mores Board

Meet MoonPie Mallie, Mallie Campbell.

Mallie is a Chattanooga, Tennessee native and graduated from Samford University last December. She has a passion for skiing, babysitting, being outside, hosting friends, and baking. She has tried almost every fitness studio in Birmingham because she doesn’t like to do one class for more than a month at a time and rotates through them once she’s done. She recently has taken up skeet shooting and you’ll probably find her with a bruised shoulder. AND, most importantly, she started a blog with baking recipes all centered around America’s sweetheart of dessert, the MoonPie, and the recipes are equally as pretty as yum. She has a heart of gold and a creative drive like no other and I LOVED sitting down with her (via phone, because social distancing :/) and talking all things SNACKS. You already KNOW I enjoy a good char char board and Mallie put her MoonPie twist on a classic. Follow her for sweet treats here and ENJOY.

Mid-Quarantine, if you are anything like me, you are beyond ready for a party, gathering, or any type of social interaction that could constitute for a grazing board! What could be better than a snacking buffet? Typical grazing boards are filled with a variety of cheeses, fruits, crackers, nuts, and various other garnishes. A MoonPie Mallie S’mores Board is built around the original marshmallow sandwich, a MoonPie! This decadent combination of goods can be eaten individually or stacked together to make every bite a new s’more. Lots of chocolate, marshmallows, cookies, crackers, and vibrant fruit is just the beginning of building your own s’mores board.

First.

Place your board in its permanent place of staging for the gathering, it will be difficult to move once the board is full of goods.

Second.

Stage the large items first. This could be bowls of fruit, large marshmallows, a miniature cast iron skillet with s’mores dip, etc.

Third.

Add fruit. For the a chocolate board, I suggest raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, dried oranges, banana or apple slices. On more savory boards I love lots of grapes, peaches, pears, strawberries, or watermelon cubes.

Fourth.

Distribute a few savory items such as pretzels, almonds, peanut butter cups, or sea salted caramels. Add graham crackers, cookies, vanilla wafers, biscoff, or anything that catches your eye in the cookies and cracker isle. My go-to grocery stores for grazing boards are Trader Joes, Aldi, Publix, or Whole Foods!

Fifth.

Arrange the pieces in spiral, circular, and linear patterns and stacks for visual appeal. Get messy and creative and before you know it you will have a board that is as beautiful as it is delicious! Have fun displaying all the fun things and get ready for picking!

Lastly.

Fill the board! Scatter smaller items to fill any gaps in the board. I used chocolate covered berries and almonds!
